Welcome to Khotang - Nepal


About Khotang

Khotang district is in Sagarmatha Zone of Nepal, approximately 1200-3000 meters above sea level. It is five days walk from the nearest motor able road and one day walk from nearest airport Lamidada and two days from Phaplu Airport. To the north east lie mountain peaks raising the everest range. Mostly the surrounding land is hilly and steep with medium areas of forest.

Life in this village

Mostly Tamang, Rai, Sherpa and other background live in this village. They speak their won mother language and as a second Nepali language.

Occupation

Most of the people have small farms growing mice and potato, few vegetable are grown up. Their few lands do not provide enough food for whole year. So far some month of the year many of the man travel around the country mostly in Lukla (to do trekking as a porter) to seek work and extra income from their families.


Aiselukharka Bazzar

Aiselukharka Bazzar is the main Center of two district Khotang and Solukhumbu. Where is One Health Post, One Secondary Level School and One Post office.



Khotang District


A part of
Sagarmatha Zone, is one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, a landlocked country of South Asia. The district, with Diktel as its district headquarters, covers an area of 1,591 km² and has a population (2001) of 231,385. Khotang is part of the area traditionally called Majh Kirat/Kirant (middle Kirat), home to indigenous ethnic Kirat Rai people. Apart from Rais, other ethnic groups and hill castes live in Khotang.
